They don't train doctors much about menopause, let alone inform personal trainers that these years of hormone changes require us to adjust how we eat and exercise. 😠Most studies are done on men and the data is used for women. "Women are not small men" as stated by Dr. Stacy Sims. All the training and information in my programs are specifically from data and studies done on women over 40! I am continually studying and learning so all programs will be adjusted as more and more data on women over 40 becomes available! We can no longer rely on steady-state cardio, high-rep weight training, and reducing calories. Those strategies will backfire—I see it every day! Instead, we need tailored approaches that consider the unique needs of our changing bodies. Perimenopause is the first around five years leading to the stopping of menstruation. So, we say we really start to see the changes the five years before that one point in time, but it can be 10 or more years. This is a time when we have the greatest body composition changes, and if we're not taking steps to change what's going on, then this is the body composition that we are with for the rest of our lives, so it is very much on us to be aware of what is happening in the menopause transition, so we can take steps to create an adaptation to slow down the negative changes, so when we get into our new state of post-menopause, we are not fighting to get to a better health point. Hi, I'm Jen, the creator and head coach of Firm Over Forty and owner of Fusion Ageless Beauty for over 20 years. With over 20 years of experience as a Master Esthetician and 30 + years of dedication to health and fitness, I am passionate about helping women over 40 look and feel their best. Throughout my career, I have witnessed many of my clients struggle with the unique challenges of peri and post-menopause, from stubborn body fat to weight fluctuations and muscle loss. Motivated by a desire to make a difference, I developed Firm Over Forty, a program specifically designed to address these challenges with science-backed strategies. As a mother of three who works full-time, I understand the demands and difficulties of staying fit and healthy, especially as we age. At 50 years old, I have personally navigated this journey and am committed to sharing my knowledge and experience to help other women succeed. My approach combines personalized fitness plans, nutrition guidance, and mindset coaching to provide a holistic path to wellness. Additionally, I offer expert advice on skin and beauty treatments to help you look as good as you feel.
